Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Laurens County Criminal History. Viewing its material, submitting a query, or otherwise using the website signals acceptance of every term below. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the service.

NO FCRA USE. Laurens County Criminal History is privately operated and has no connection to a local, state, or federal government body. Neither the website nor its advertising partners provides a service intended for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) decisions. Its purpose is to identify criminal-record resources in Laurens County and South Carolina. It is neither a private-investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference website independent of all government offices. It does not retain official criminal records, obtain records for visitors, perform official background checks, or submit forms on anyone’s behalf.

Its material directs visitors to the offices that preserve Laurens County records, including the Sheriff’s Office, criminal courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and South Carolina Sex Offender Registry. Official access remains controlled by laws such as the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act and S.C. Code §23-3-115 on SLED dissemination. Some pages also connect to outside tools that may assist with personal research.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the website is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Violate federal, South Carolina, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, intimidate, or harass another person with information found here
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance determinations
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Operate bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Interfere with service speed, availability, or another visitor’s access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information obtained here or through a linked service may be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. This rule is especially important for the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry. S.C. Code §23-3-490 makes registry information public but warns against using it to injure, harass, or commit a crime against a registrant or a person at a reported address. Registry access supports lawful safety awareness, never vigilante conduct or unlawful blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Laurens County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create background checks, credit reports, or any other consumer report. Its advertising partners likewise are not presented as services for evaluating applicants, insurance risk, credit, or housing. Information from this website or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing application
  • Assess credit or establish an insurance rate
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A check needed for a regulated purpose must come from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division when that official channel applies, or from a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or South Carolina expungement rule applies to a particular set of facts. Seek advice from a lawyer licensed in South Carolina for an individual legal matter.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are supplied "as is" without a guarantee that:

  • Every item is complete, accurate, or current
  • Access will remain continuous or uninterrupted
  • The pages contain no defect, error, or security weakness
  • An outside search service will return complete or correct results

Criminal records can change when charges are filed, dismissed, sealed, corrected, or expunged. Updates may not appear here at once, and omissions can occur. Website content is never an official statement from a Laurens County court, sheriff, SLED, or another public body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, SLED, legal-aid organizations, and outside search providers. Following a link leaves this website for a service beyond its control. No responsibility is accepted for an outside service’s content, privacy practice, price, accuracy, or availability. Review the destination’s terms first.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Laurens County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. Copying, changing, distributing, or creating derivative material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for damage arising from use of the website, including reliance on information obtained here or through an external service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by your use of the website or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

South Carolina law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the website must be brought in a court located in South Carolina, subject to applicable jurisdiction and venue rules.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be modified only to the extent needed for enforceability.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
